Recent research in 3D user interfaces has pushed in two directions; towards immersive graphics and actuated tangible shape displays. “Sublimate” explores the hybrid of these directions: state-shanging virtual and physical rendering to augment interaction with shape displays.
Our paper is presented at the ACM SIGCHI 2013 conference. It introduces a new paradigm for floating 3D graphics to augment a physical relief display. As part of the author team I developed its demo application showing collaborative control of the physical display through tablet computers.
