While the Smart Grid is not yet a reality, more and more individuals and companies are building photovoltaic arrays on their roofs. The largest electricity provider of the Zurich area wanted to invest in this potential and had us build an online auction platform for privately produced power.
The provider can now invite tenders on a regular basis, while owners can register their solar plants, make their bids in real-time and see how they compare to others. This is an efficient way for them to sell their excess power to the grid, while the provider can buy it at the lowest market rate.
